Bike Rodeo – Mark your calendar for this Saturday …Thomas D’Arcy McGee Catholic School is hosting a bike rodeo for students in kindergarten to grade 4! Lead by certified instructors from the city of Ottawa, bike rodeos are a great way for young cyclists to learn safe riding skills and rules of the road. There will be a series of stations set up that students rotate through in small groups to learn about helmet safety, bike maintenance and riding skills. The fun starts at 9:00 am and runs until noon.
Children Learn: ü Helmet Check ü Bike Check for tires, brakes, chain, pedals, seat ü Rules of the Road and Traffic Signs ü Hand Signals ü Shoulder Check ü Balance ü Weaving and Maneuvering
There is no cost to attend – the only requirements are to show up with a bike, a helmet (mandatory), a water bottle and a parent or guardian. And of course, to have fun!! We are in need of volunteers to man the stations. If you can help out, please contact the council at tdmcgeeplaygroundcommittee@gmail.com |
