TD McGee Catholic School Council Elections and First Meeting

All Thomas D'Arcy McGee Catholic School parents and guardians are invited to participate in our Catholic School Council, which meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm.  Our first meeting of the year is coming up on Tuesday, September 12th at 6:30
 in the conference room.  Please join us for our first meeting where we will be holding an election of officers and planning our fall initiatives, our Annual Fall Bake Sale and our Halloween Family Dance.   

Registration Evening For First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion

First Reconciliation / First Holy Communion Registration Thursday, September 21, 2017 for Elementary School children

Information Session followed by Registration: begins @7pm in the church hall for parents.  Children will have a guided tour of the church with an opportunity to ask questions from our leader. 

Registration is open to catholic children from grade 2 – 6.  Fee: $30.  A copy of candidate's Baptismal Certificate is required on registration.  Children attending Catholic elementary schools grade 2 receive First Holy Communion preparation as part of their classroom curriculum to augment parent’s preparation / instruction.

Office Is Open As Of August 28th

The staff of Thomas D'Arcy McGee Catholic School hopes that you have had a wonderful summer. We are looking forward to welcoming all of our friends ... new and old ... on Tuesday, September 5th. The school office will be open as of 9:00 am on Monday, August 28th. 

Bike Rodeo At TD McGee Catholic - This Saturday!

Bike Rodeo – Mark your calendar for this Saturday …Thomas D’Arcy McGee Catholic School is hosting a bike rodeo for students in kindergarten to grade 4! Lead by certified instructors from the city of Ottawa, bike rodeos are a great way for young cyclists to learn safe riding skills and rules of the road. There will be a series of stations set up that students rotate through in small groups to learn about helmet safety, bike maintenance and riding skills.  The fun starts at 9:00 am and runs until noon. 


Children Learn:

ü  Helmet Check

ü  Bike Check for tires, brakes, chain, pedals, seat

ü  Rules of the Road and Traffic Signs

ü  Hand Signals

ü  Shoulder Check

ü  Balance

ü  Weaving and Maneuvering


There is no cost to attend – the only requirements are to show up with a bike, a helmet (mandatory), a water bottle and a parent or guardian. And of course, to have fun!!

Mark your calendar ... our year end family BBQ is scheduled for Friday, June 16th from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. There will be bouncy castles, a magician and lots of fun activities for all. There is no charge to attend. Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and popcorn will be available through our cash online - ordering opens on Friday, June 2nd. 

Congratulations Miss Lana!

Congratulations to Miss Lana who was honored on May 2nd at the Education Week Mass at Notre Dame Basilica. Miss Lana was awarded the Director of Education Commendation for excellence in the Ottawa Catholic School Board. Miss Lana is an educational assistant in our school. Her nomination was a compilation of accolades from both colleagues and parents. We are so proud of you Lana!

Spaghetti Dinner and Auction - Tickets Still Available

Good Morning TD McGee Catholic Families - well, after much planning and organization, our Spaghetti dinner and auction is only 1 week away - Saturday, April 29th. If you did not purchase tickets but would like to go, we have approximately 25 tickets left. These will be sold today (April 22nd) and tomorrow (April 23rd) after masses at Annunciation of the Lord Parish. Once they are gone, there are no more seats.. so don't miss out!!

We are in need of volunteers for this event. If you can help out to set up during the day or during the dinner, please let us know through our email account:

We also need desserts. If you can bring a plate of cookies, squares or other "finger" dessert, please let us know at the above email address. We really appreciate all donations!

We have an amazing array of items for auction - everything from gift cards, to handmade bowties, to tickets to family events! Even more selection than last year. 

Most importantly, all funds raised go toward the installation of our inclusive play structure. We are so close to achieving our financial goal - please join us and help us make this initiative a reality!!

Family Math Night

TD McGee Catholic was alive with families, fun, and ..... math on Wednesday evening. The Thomas D'Arcy McGee Catholic School Council organized and facilitated a wonderful math night for families. Parents and children played and moved together to practice everything from math facts to time to money concepts. Thank you to our wonderful organizing committee; Mrs. Howley, Mrs. Parsons, Mrs. Derouchie, Mrs. Barker and Mrs. Kidd. 

Creating our Sacred Space!

We are looking to create a sacred place of peace and beauty for all.  We would appreciate you supporting us in this endeavour by donating any of the following items:

·      Soil

·      Large yard size pots

·      Wildflower seeds (our hope is to attract butterflies, some suggested seeds are brown-eyed Susans, asters, milkweed, coneflowers, violets)

·      plants

Lester B. Pearson Catholic High School Presents "Cinderella"

Lester B Pearson Catholic High School proudly presents "Cinderella - The Musical" on April 6, 7, and 8th.  This lovely adaptation is suitable for all ages.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.  Showtime is 7pm.
